Protecting and Moisturizing Your Baby's Skin
Written by Ann Lott, MD, Bryan LifePointe MedSpa Medical Director

He is here! My grandson, Henry Joseph arrived on August 26, weighing seven pounds 13 ounces! He is the most perfect baby ever born - except for his mother, of course.
Products to Keep You and Your Baby's Skin Nourished
Since Susan and Graham live in California, I am filling a goodie bag with the following skincare products for baby Henry:
- Blue Lizard sunscreen for babies
elta MD Intense Moisturizer
- elta MD intense moisturizer
- Cetaphil moisturizer
- CeraVe cleanser
- Triple Salve cream for the diaper area and mom’s sore nipples
This will help to make sure the baby’s skin is protected and moisturized at all times. I also have several hats picked out from the Coolibar Sun Protective clothing catalog. Other great skincare products for you and your baby include Aquaphor and Vanicreme, a product line for sensitive skin and safe for all ages.
Needless to say, with the arrival of my new grandson, my focus has extended to babies and I will be educating you on pediatric dermatology as well.
Uncovering the Health of your Child’s Skin
At Bryan LifePointe’s MedSpa, we can take UV photos of your children’s skin. It is a real eye opener to parents to see how early sun damage starts.
An informative exercise we also perform during your child’s session is to cover half the face with a good sunscreen and repeat the UV photo. This demonstrates how effective the product can be in blocking UV radiation.
The best and easiest product for frequent re-application of sun screen is the
Colorscience dust on product. Now that my new grandson is here, I will be buying even more for Christmas stocking gifts this year. Get yours at Bryan LifePointe – stop in or call 402-481-6321!
Monthly MedSpa Special
This month’s special is to treat spider veins and red spots such as cherry hemangiomas. Can’t you just hear Henry in a few years saying, “Grandma what are those red spiders on your legs?” And because you need to wear major support hose after the treatment, fall and winter is definitely the time to take care of your spider veins and red spots.
